Mar Sáez deals with issues of identity, femininity, and sociocultural values. She began her career as a journalist, and combines working as a freelance photographer with projects involving documentary photography. Her subjects in this book, Vera and Victoria, are two young people in their twenties. One was born a woman, the other identifies as one, though she has no intention of undergoing gender reassignment surgery. The couple shares dreams of a life together and ignores the prejudice of others. They are simply two women who love each other. The project began in 2012 as a visual diary, an intimate and proud account of this young couple and the richness of their relationship.
