Appearing in conjunction with an exhibition on António Bolota at Culturgest, ‘Labour’ presents site-specific pieces and revisits some fundamental works from his artistic career. Bolota’s work is based on a keen sense of space and the way we behave inside it, and is created through a sculptural lexicon of walls, beams, doors, pillars, and every type of element associated with civil construction, which, because they are so familiar, frequently become invisible. Besides installation views, the book includes essays by Travis Jeppesen, Delfim Sardo, and the exhibition curator, Bruno Marchand, plus documentary-style photographs from behind the scenes that were taken by Pedro Tropa.
