'Afvalstillevens' (Still Life in Waste) includes ca. 200 collages / photo montages of all kinds of waste: cigarette butts, broken tiles and toilet bowls, plastic toys, wooden planks, apple cores... Jos Houweling went out with his small camera and took pictures of the rubbish he came across during his walks. Afterwards he composed his ‘harvested’ pictures to colourful and surrealistic montages. Sometimes it seems as if we were all living inside a big waste container... However, it is also possible to look at rubbish in a different way and to see the beauty of the objects.
