'Bal & Voet' includes 200 rather bizarre and colourful photo-collages by Jos Houweling (Amsterdam, 1943), featuring surrealistically staged footballers against a background of green football (soccer) fields. Houweling started from images from television programmes and pictures from newspapers he edited on his laptop. At first he was not aiming at creating ‘football collages’. Having chosen ‘green’ as a subject of his photography, he sat in front of his TV set taking pictures of green football fields when the players were out of sight. The Centre Pompidou in Paris purchased the 200 black-and-white Amsterdam collages Jos Houweling created in 1975, and exhibited them from 6 February to 29 April 2019.
