This monograph celebrates the life and work of Dutch artist Hans van Dijk and describes his influential role in Chinese contemporary art. Known in China as Dai Hanzhi, he was both a witness and a catalyst in the development of the art scene there in the late 20th and early 21st centuries, acting as curator, art historian, and gallerist. Filled with prints and archive photos, the book portrays the recent history of Chinese contemporary art through Van Dijk’s experience.
