The second volume in the series is dedicated to Puglia, wherein the region is explored through research by artist Fabrizio Bellomo. His work has led him to scour Puglia’s wastelands of solid and empty spaces, structures left behind by quarrying rock for materials to build elsewhere. Bellomo sees these ancient residual structures as open-air architectures, which in turn offer a possibility to create new stone environments to populate. His extensive mapping of quarry sites throughout Puglia allows for the very process of extraction to become an architectural action planned in advance. Included are a selection of images from his travels, plus a booklet with project writings, works, and reflections.
