Hollow and Broken: A State of the World is published for Gülsün Karamustafa's participation in the Türkiye Pavilion at the 60th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia. The installation invites visitors to reflect on the tragic realities of a world affected by wars, earthquakes, migration, and nuclear peril. The publication consists of two books: one focusing on the Pavilion and the other on Karamustafa's 50-year artistic career. It includes insights into her creative process, a multi-layered continuity leading to Hollow and Broken, and reflections on her use of materials. The first volume features essays by various authors on different materials used in her Venice project, along with the artist's diary and keywords. The second volume contains Karamustafa's responses to questions from designer Esen Karol, exploring materials, concepts, and production modes in her work. A folded poster with film stills, which the artist sees as the binding statement of her Venice project, is inserted between the two volumes.
