Published in conjunction with an exhibition in Madrid dedicated to the self-taught Spanish photographer Vari Caramés, this book is structured on the basis of three open concepts – something, nothing, always – allowing a continuous transfer and interconnection between the images, which in turn expresses the spirit of this artist’s work. It presents a selection of his most iconic images together with a journey through various creative phases, from black-and-white photography to portraits, still lifes, landscapes, street photography, and more. Although it is not intended as a formal retrospective, the content nevertheless spans the majority of his output since the 1980s.
