In ‘Fata Morgana’, Alessia Rollo presents powerful images of migrants from Africa or the Middle East seeking a new life in Salenta, Italy. Dissatisfied with the stereotypical way they have been portrayed in the newspapers, she seeks to show migrants in a different way – with dignity and empathy. This project is the winner of the Third Fotocanal Competition 2018, organised by Comunidad de Madrid and Ediciones Anómalas. Rollo obtained a Master in “Creative Photography at Efti school in Madrid, and was also selected as emergent talent for Futures Photography 2018 by PHotoEspaña.
