‘Imaginary Archives’, a collaborative box set in three parts, enlists the imagination as an instrument to question and rearrange archival practices. “Letters to V” expands the processes and criteria for organising an archive to an active user. “Phantom Islands” takes inspiration from cartography during European maritime expansion, using the erroneous remnants of such colonial documents as entry point for a critical reopening of the European imaginary. And by intersecting practices of writing and dancing from the Indian Ocean rim, “Postcards from Peacock Islands” unpacks layers of stories and histories embedded in living traditions, opening archives to varied ways of storytelling.
