This series of 30 collages was made by Alfredo Coloma while he was working as a night receptionist in two of Maja Hoffmann’s hotels in Arles. The collages were made out of the stickers glued on the oranges that he pressed to prepare juice for the breakfasts’ buffets. Thus, this book can be read as a kind of work log: each collage corresponds to the quantity of oranges pressed per day. Given that these collages were created in the same context as that of his activity as a night receptionist, the pay Coloma received can also be considered as compensation for their production, thus making the famous art collector his financial sponsor…
