The luxury and serenity of the Côte d'Azur, with its sparkling Mediterranean Sea and ancient pine trees, provide an exceptional setting for art. Twentieth-century masters like Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, and Fernand Léger left their mark here. Continuing this tradition, the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc has invited gallery owner Kamel Mennour to present monumental sculptures by Daniel Buren, Alicja Kwade, Bertrand Lavier, Lee Ufan, and Ugo Rondinone. These five artists create a timeless dialogue between art and nature in the hotel's grounds. The works amaze visitors with their interplay of mirrors, shapes, and colors. Daniel Buren uses color, transparency, and the sky, as he reminds us, "without the sky, and the sun's rays, half the work disappears." Alicja Kwade juxtaposes a rock with its aluminum replica in a poetic game of mirrors. Bertrand Lavier's piece from his Walt Disney Productions series brings fiction to reality. Lee Ufan contrasts stone and steel, symbolizing the balance between nature and culture. Ugo Rondinone presents a monumental, archaic human figure. This exhibition invites reflection on our relationship with the world, celebrating the beauty and diversity of artistic expression.
