The recent Documenta 15 seemed an excellent case study on this topic. The artist collective ruangrupa—organizers of the event—proposed the principle of lumbung (communally used rice granaries in Indonesia) as the metaphor and method for fairly distributing the event's tools and resources. This publication is the fruit of the travels of some of CyDRe's researchers to Documenta in 2022. Under the term "object," are included here quite different things: a collection of family photos from the Palestinian refugee camp Burj al-Shamali in Lebanon, about which Yasmine Eid-Sabbagh, discusses the meaning and the use of the compiled materials; a tent, identified as Embassy, set up by the Australian artist Richard Bell in Kassel, to house discussions about the problems facing local communities; an offset printer installed by the artist Erick Beltrán at the service of a community of artists and collectives invited to Documenta, among other disparate examples.
