Towards New Landscapes is a photo documentary publication disguised as a regular tourism postcard set. Kurniadi Widodo explores to record the contempo- rary Indonesian tourism phenomenon in recent years and the many issues it touches, from development of sustainable economy, land use and its surrounding policies, to the public desire to construct and perceive identities from these tourist spots as well as other yet unmapped consequences. Today, tourist spots can be instantly made, modified, or even repeatedly replicated from other well established iconic sites, due to the changing digital landscape. By definition, tourist spots today can be any spot that attracts people to take pictures in front of these constructs, to upload and appreciate in their social media feeds. Towards New Landscapes explores how photography and social media plays a hand in the creation of this new culture.
