Dutch photographer Kim Boske creates series in which the images are often composed by merging several different shots of the same subject, along with changing light and angles. In this manner, she expresses a fascination with the passage of time in her work, which represents an exploration into the mechanisms of time and space that remain unseen behind the facade of the visual world – and attempt to expose them. For ‘Mapping’, Boske photographed trees in her typical fashion, thereby creating a series of images rife with movement, dimensionality, tangibility and growth. An accompanying text by Erik A. de Jong delves into the long history of botanical observation.
